U.S. Representative Peter Meijer (R-MI) today announced the recipients of his 2022 Congressional Medal of Merit. Originally minted by Congressman Paul Henry, the Congressional Medal of Merit is awarded annually to one outstanding senior from each high school in Michigan's Third Congressional District.

Schools were asked to consider the following criteria when selecting a nominee: academic excellence, peer respect, community service, school citizenship, and involvement in extracurricular activities. Further, schools were asked to nominate a student who significantly contributes to making his or her school a better place and who otherwise might not seek or receive recognition for their exemplary efforts.

"I extend my sincere congratulations to this year's Congressional Medal of Merit recipients," said Rep. Meijer. "These young adults are proven leaders and hard workers -- both academically and in service to our community. I am confident they will be successful in their future endeavors, and I look forward to seeing the wonderful things they're sure to accomplish."
